Faces Places
Before seeing Faces Places, I did not know anything about Agnès Varda, but I have done some research on JR and his projects seen around the world. I think this film centers so much around the working class because people tend to not notice how hard-working those in the working class are, so I believe this film is made to honor them and give them the attention they need. I did have an experience of having a shared interest with someone else, it happens whenever I hang out with one of my best friends. Sometimes when we’re at the mall together, we often share some thoughts on our lives and how we find some images that we both like. I don’t often see public art, but when I do, I find it very interesting because it is something I don’t see everyday and that mesmerizes me. As for guerrilla-style street art, I haven’t really come across this style of art, but based on what I see on the internet, I find some I can relate to and some I can’t. Alexa Meade
Alexa Meade is an artist and photographer who has made a unique way of combining art with photography. She does this by painting on human bodies and also the backgrounds before photographing them which give an illusion of different dimensions. This kind of technique is known as trompe l’oeil, a style of art first developed in ancient Greece, but the name itself originated in France. The term can be defined as a painting style which depicts realistic details from photography. Meade’s work of art looks so real that in the photograph it stands out more than other people in the photo. In her photography she paints on people and photographs them in a way that they look like statues. Each piece of art exhibits a different story based on the backgrounds and the color the subjects have been painted. Meade paints the backgrounds in a way that gives an illusion of different dimensions that go beyond our Mundane 3D world, which might have been inspired by supernatural shows.
